A STUDY ON THE CORRELATION BETWEEN PRE-OPERATIVE RADIOLOGICAL FINDINGS AND INTRA-OPERATIVE FINDINGS IN CASES OF SQUAMOSAL CHRONIC OTITIS MEDIA

Abstract
Introduction: Chronic otitis media (COM) has been an important cause of middle ear disease since prehistoric times. Despite the valuable contribution of antibiotics, COM remains a common disease and its complications challenge both otologists and radiologists. Chronic ototis media is relatively common and potentially dangerous disease of the ear. It is defined as permanent abnormality of the pars tensa or flaccida, most likely a result of earlier acute otitis media, negative middle ear pressure or otitis media with effusion. Aims: To compare the preoperative HRCT findings with intra-operative findings in patients with Chronic Otitis Media and to resolve the doubts about the sensitivity and specificity of pre- operative CT scan findings in squamosal COM. Materials and Methods: The present study was a Prospective descriptive study. This Study was conducted from April, 2019 to September, 2020 at Department of ENT, IPGMER & SSKM Hospital, Kolkata. Result: In our study, most of the patients had SES II, 13(26.0%) patients had SES III, 19(38.0%) patients had SES IV and 15(30.0%) patients had SES V. Conclusion: We found that Serum Bilirubin (Total, Conjugated, Unconjugated) were higher and statistically significant patients and were associated with poor outcome. sig- nificant in patients who were associated with poor outcome.
