Abstract

The importance of plants and their constituents in the treatment of diabetes as a medicine in the old decades shows the presence of active compounds for specific isolation in the natural plant. The present study was focused on the invitro assay of anti- diabetic activity by glucose uptake assay. The studied sample was found to be enhancing the glucose uptake in L6 cells compared to untreated cells (Control). The glucose uptake was found to be increasing in concentration dependant manner also. The highest glucose uptake activity was shown by the sample at the concentration of 100 µg/ml. The results conclude that the test compound may have type 2 antidiabetic properties and can be considered as a promising drug candidate against insulin resistant hyperglycemia.
