Abstract
The present paper critically reviews and analyzes the key aspects related to Transgender Identity and Public Policy, in relation to India. The paper clearly explains the concept of ‘Gender’, ‘Gender Identity’, ‘Sexual Orientation’ and carries out distinction between ‘Gender Identity & Sexual orientation." The paper further elaborates the Transgender related Identities in India, in general, in the religious and cultural context, and in the Mughal Rule and Colonial Period, where the transgender were given huge importance and significant roles.
