Abstract

Banks have been crucial to the improvement of the nation's economic situation. The primary goal of the study is to evaluate the financial standing of a few Indian public and private sector banks. The five-year period from 2016–17 to 2020–21 is used to analyse the financial performance of banks. The study's methodology is based on the use of significant financial indicators, particular profitability ratios, liquidity ratios, and asset quality measures of banks. The T-test, mean value, and graphs are utilised for comparative analysis. By examining important performance metrics from 2016–17 to 2020–21, the descriptive statistics (T-Test) shows that there is a significant difference between the overall performance of chosen Indian banks. Therefore, it is evident from the analysis that, except for CD% and CAR%, IOB has solid liquidity position during the previous five years compared to liquidity ratio. As a result, it can be shown from the total comparison study of the two selected banks' performances that ICICI Bank has performed better than IOB during the research period.
