Abstract
The purpose of this work was to formulate and characterize Diclofenac Sodium matrix tablets utilizing sesbania gum as a new carrier. The polymer Sesbania gum was used in the Direct Compression process to produce diclofenac sodium matrix tablets. Preformulation studies were used to analyze the Sesbania gum, including angle of repose, bulk density, tapped density, compressibility index, and hausners ratio. Every metric indicates that the flow qualities are good. For direct compression matrix tablet formulation, Gum from Sesbania (SG) different concentration were used while quantities of microcrystalline cellulose, magnesium stearate, and talc were employed as release retardants. Studies using FTIR and DSC revealed that the drugs and polymers did not interact. The prepared tablets were then subjected to assessment tests for things like thickness, weight fluctuation, friability, and medication content. The permissible ranges were met for each parameter. Using the USP dissolving equipment II at 100 rpm in either 0.1 N HCl for two hours afterwards or in phosphate buffer, pH 6.8 for another 10 hours, the release profile of produced formulation (SGF) from the compressed tablets was investigated. The marketed medicine had a drug release rate of 73% after 12 hours, compared to 71% for F-3 across all formulations. Three months of stability testing on a chosen formulation (F-3) revealed stability with regard to release pattern.
