Abstract
Cytogenetic monitoring was carried out among the population of the city of Shymkent of the Republic of Kazakhstan. As a result of the study, it was revealed low potential for chromosomal abnormalities. This may indicate the location of the city in a favorable area near the Aksu-Zhabagly nature reserve. 10,000 indigenous volunteers were analyzed and a total of 417 abnormal cells were identified. The largest number of chromosomal disorders was found near the former lead plant. It should be noted that the identified chromosomal abnormalities do not exceed the stability of mitotic activity.
