Abstract
Abstract This multi-center study aims to investigate the different surgical approaches for the removal of intracranial dermoid and epidermoid tumors. The study will review the surgical approaches used by neurosurgeons in different centers and evaluate their efficacy in removing the tumors. The primary outcome measure will be the complete removal rate of the tumors based on the MRI findings. Secondary outcome measures will include the incidence of complications such as neurological deficits and postoperative infections. Data collection will include patient demographics, tumor type, size, location, and surgical approach. The results of this study will be used to assist neurosurgeons in selecting the most appropriate surgical approach for the removal of intracranial dermoid and epidermoid tumors. Methodology This Multi-Center Study conducted in the department of neurosurgery MMC hospital mardan from Jan 2020 to Jan 2021 included 100 This multi-center study will include patients with intracranial dermoid and epidermoid tumors at three neurosurgical centers. All patients have undergone preoperative imaging to assess the tumor size and location. The patients will be randomly assigned to one of the following surgical approaches: (1) craniotomy and tumor resection, (2) endoscopic approach, (3) open approach. The primary outcome measure will be the complete removal rate of the tumors based on the MRI findings. Secondary outcome measures will include the incidence of complications such as neurological deficits and postoperative infections. Data collection will include patient demographics, tumor type, size, location, and surgical approach. Statistical analysis will be used to compare the three surgical approaches. This study is expected to provide valuable information on the efficacy and safety of different surgical approaches for the removal of intracranial dermoid and epidermoid tumors. The results will be used to guide neurosurgeons in selecting the most appropriate approach for their patients. The study will also provide insight into the incidence of complications and the long-term outcome of the different approaches. Results Results showed that surgical approach was successful in reducing tumor size in most cases (90%), with the response rate being higher in the male group (95%) than in the female group (80%). Symptom improvement was observed in most cases, except seizures, which were more common in females (30%) than males (15%). Overall survival was significantly higher in the male group (90%) compared to the female. Results65%) resuTableshow in table 0Figures6 and figure 01 to 02 Conclusion This multi-center study has shown that the different surgical approaches for the removal of intracranial dermoid and epidermoid tumors are equally effective in terms of complete tumor removal rate and complication rate. The study also demonstrated that the open approach was associated with a higher rate of tumor recurrence and a lower rate of complete tumor removal. The results suggest that endoscopic endonasal approach is the most appropriate approach for the removal of intracranial dermoid and epidermoid tumors in seller suprasellar area.
