THE MULTISENSORY METHOD IN LITERACY MASTERY OF DYSLEXIC STUDENTS

Abstract
It has been proven in previous studies that dyslexic boys face more challenges in learning and educative settings compared to girls in every nation. This study is conducted to analyze the effectiveness of multi-sensory learning among dyslexics. A total of 10 dyslexic boys from Dyslexia Association Malaysia was chosen as the study subjects. They were diagnosed with dyslexia after undergoing the diagnostic tests run by experts. Researcher used the A-B-A research design in gathering and analyzing the study data. In this phase of site study, researcher conducts observations and testing to analyze the effectiveness of multi-sensory learning in mastering the literacy of the dyslexic students. Researcher used the Structured Literacy Approach (SLA) in the application of multi-sensory learning with the study subjects. Through the application of A-B-A research design, researcher tested the subjects after every session and all scores, and analysis of the achievement will be presented as a whole, and individually in the study discussion. The study outcome proves that the intervention can help dyslexics learn the literacy constructs from the early stage in mastering letters and sounds. The use of this intervention for dyslexic students will increase the mastery of their language continuously. Researcher provides proof that there is a significant difference before and after every session done with the study subjects. The new model created namely VIKASE derived from this research will benefit all dyslexics and teachers in applying the multi-sensory method. This will help solve the main problem of dyslexics, which are letter and sound discrimination.
