Age, gender, vital signs, laboratory findings are recorded. Immediately after intubation as measured by the capnography, the initial P&amp;lt;sub&amp;gt;ETCO2_1 &amp;lt;/sub&amp;gt;and at post-ventilation 15 min, P&amp;lt;sub&amp;gt;ETCO2_2 &amp;lt;/sub&amp;gt;and first, second arterial blood gas analysis are recorded.&amp;lt;/p&amp;gt; &amp;lt;p&amp;gt;&amp;lt;strong&amp;gt;Results: &amp;lt;/strong&amp;gt;The mean age of the 48 patients was 74 years. The P&amp;lt;sub&amp;gt;ETCO2_1 &amp;lt;/sub&amp;gt;and P&amp;lt;sub&amp;gt;ETCO2_2 &amp;lt;/sub&amp;gt;measurements were statistically significantly different between the patients who survived and those who died (p=0.014, p=0.015). The patients with a high first P&amp;lt;sub&amp;gt;ETCO2_1 &amp;lt;/sub&amp;gt;value and a decrease to the normal level survived, but those with a low P&amp;lt;sub&amp;gt;ETCO2_1 &amp;lt;/sub&amp;gt;value that could not increase to a normal value died (p=0.038, p=0.031). Increased levels of SpO&amp;lt;sub&amp;gt;2&amp;lt;/sub&amp;gt;, P&amp;lt;sub&amp;gt;ETCO2_1&amp;lt;/sub&amp;gt;, P&amp;lt;sub&amp;gt;ETCO2_2 &amp;lt;/sub&amp;gt;and PaCO&amp;lt;sub&amp;gt;2_2&amp;lt;/sub&amp;gt; decreased the risk of mortality, while an increased level of PaO&amp;lt;sub&amp;gt;2_2 &amp;lt;/sub&amp;gt;increased the risk of mortality.&amp;lt;/p&amp;gt; &amp;lt;p&amp;gt;&amp;lt;strong&amp;gt;Conclusion: &amp;lt;/strong&amp;gt;Capnography is non-invasive and provides continuous measurement.
