Abstract
Background: A significant proportion of primary bacteraemia cases are linked to catheter placement, emphasizing the need for effective prevention and management of CLABSI. This study sought to assess critical care nurses' knowledge, attitudes, and behaviors concerning preventive strategies for Central Line-Associated Bloodstream Infections. Methods: A descriptive correlational design with cross-sectional analysis was employed. Study Sample: The study included 108 nursing staff from three hospitals. Tool: Data were collected using a questionnaire divided into two sections with 20 questions: the first gathered demographic data, while the second focused on a CLABSI questionnaire covering three aspects of evidence-based prevention guidelines—knowledge, attitudes, and behaviors. Results: Participants were predominantly female, most aged 31–40 years, and holders of a bachelor's degree in nursing. While chi-square tests showed no significant link between knowledge and sociodemographic factors, regression analysis underscored the importance of workshops, attitudes toward preventive behaviors, and educational levels in enhancing CLABSI prevention knowledge. Conclusion: This study underscores the critical role of nurses' knowledge, attitudes, and behaviors in CLABSI prevention. Recommendation: Implement targeted educational programs and institutional support to bridge gaps in knowledge and practice
