Abstract
Background: Family members caring for an Alzheimer's patient may incur financial, social, psychological, and physical implications as part of the complex and multifaceted concept known as caregiver burden. Consequently, it is crucial to maintain the wellbeing of caregivers. Study's objective: was to assess the impact of nursing interventions on the care burden of people with Alzheimer's disease (AD). Design: A pre- and post-test quasi-experimental design was employed. Setting: This study was carried out at the Geriatric Outpatient Clinic at Al Khanka Hospital in Al-Qalubiya Governorate, the Psychiatric Department of Benha University Hospital, and the Outpatient Clinic of Benha Psychiatric Hospital. Sample: Sixty caregivers and their relatives with Alzheimer's disease in the chosen settings make up a convenience sample. Instruments used to gather data: For the investigation, four instruments were used. I: The researcher created a created interviewing questionnaire to evaluate the sociodemographic information of AD patients and their caregivers as well as the practise of the caregivers. II: The Alzheimer's Disease Expertise Scale (ADK), which evaluates the knowledge of caregivers. IV: Katz index of independence in Activities of Daily Living scale (ADL) to evaluate patient independence and III: Zarit Burden Interviewing (ZBI) questionnaire to evaluate caregiver load. Findings: Following the session, caregivers' knowledge and skills improved. Moreover, the overall burden score decreased after the intervention. In summary, the educational intervention proved effective in enhancing the knowledge and skills of caregivers while simultaneously lessening their workload. Recommendations: Social groups should assist AD caregivers, and caregivers should undergo regular assessments and educational interventions in outpatient clinics
