Abstract
Aim: The aim of this study was to assess the aesthetic and biological effects of supplementing immediate dental implants with platelet-rich plasma or photofunctionalization prior to insertion, in contrast to the use of standard tapered root form implants without pretreatment. The design and environment of the Prosthodontics Department of a Tertiary Care Health Institution are shaped by the patients who visit the facility. As part of the investigation, a randomised controlled trial was conducted. Materials and Methods: Ninety subjects who required replacement of the anterior maxillary teeth immediately after extraction were randomised into one case group, two control groups, and one case group. Two case groups that had been pretreated with platelet-rich plasma (PRP group) or photofunctionalization (PF group) received immediate implantation. After six months had passed in accordance with the delayed loading protocol, the prosthesis was inserted. Follow-up assessments were performed at the 2nd and 4th weeks, in addition to at 2, 4, 6, and 12 months (P < 0.05). The evaluation encompassed biological outcomes, including efficacy and survival rate, aesthetic outcome (specifically, the pink and white aesthetic scores), and mean marginal bone loss and implant stability. Statistical Analysis Employed: One-way analysis of variance (ANOVA) was utilised to compare outcomes, while repeated-measures ANOVA was employed to examine changes within groups from baseline to follow-up. Precise version 25.0 of the Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS Inc., Chicago, IL, USA) was employed to perform the statistical analyses. The level of significance that was predetermined was below 0.05. The findings were as follows: The mean marginal bone loss did not exhibit a statistically significant difference between the control group and the PF and PRP groups. The implant stability of the PF and PRP groups was considerably greater in comparison to the control group. The aesthetic scores for pink and white did not differ significantly between groups. In conclusion, the application of PF or PRP as pretreatment for commercial dental implants resulted in a discernible distinction in implant stability, but did not affect other significant outcomes.
