PROBLEMS WITH FOOD CONSUMPTION IN SAUDI ARABIAN ADULTS SUFFERING FROM CELIAC DISEASE

Abstract
As far as we know, celiac disease can only be treated with a gluten-free diet. Examining the difficulties associated with celiac disease diets in adults is the primary goal of this research. Adults diagnosed with CD in Saudi Arabia filled out an online survey. Some of the topics included in the study were demographics, dietary difficulties, and eating out habits. More over half of the participants are Riyadh residents, and the majority of the participants are female. In addition, a bowel biopsy was used for 65.7% of the diagnoses, and 72.3% of those diagnoses have been in place for more than a year. A gluten-free diet is followed by 95.8% of the patients, whereas 51.8% are not part of a nutritional programme. Of those who started seeing a nutritionist, 57.1% have not seen any further improvement. In addition, 86.1% of people are avoiding restaurants because of the difficulty 96.4% of people think they have in providing gluten-free options. According to the results of this study, several celiac disease issues can arise when persons with the condition follow the GFD without consulting their healthcare practitioners. Health care providers (HCPs), patients, and the general public (including friends, family, and those in the food industry) all need to know more about CD and GFD.
